Comfort Reading

Well-suited stories for taking one's mind off one's troubles...

The fun never stops here at kc dyer central, and this month, distraction is the name of the game.

I cracked a rib (or two) earlier this month while chasing a story for The Watershed, and while my daytime life has pretty much returned to normal, the whole lying-down-to-sleep thing is still a little fraught.

I've turned to PG Wodehouse to help see me through, with 'The Inimitable Jeeves', 'Carry On Jeeves', and 'Right Ho, Jeeves' seeing me through the darkest hours so far.

I'm also cruising toward the finish of 'The Long Earth' by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter, (jury still out) and have recently started sharing Florrie's adventures 'The Night in Question' by Susan Fletcher, which has had a cosily promising beginning.

What are you reading to get you through the night?

For those looking for a Flash Fiction Friday prompt, how about this one:

Whilst running in the dark, you catch your toe on an unseen obstacle, but when you fall, it is not the ground you hit...

What happens next?

Happy reading...and writing!
