#BlackHistoryMonth Celebration

Updated: Feb 3, 2021

They say April is the cruelest month, but I think February has to be right up

there in contention. As I type this, it is absolutely bucketing down outside, and my canine companions are not exactly helping. I keep having to jam my foot between the baseboard heater and Pucky's back, as the smell --or feel -- of singed dog hair doesn't seem to bother him at all.

Nevertheless, to cheer us all up, I've got a fun idea to erase our February blahs.

In celebration of #BlackHistoryMonth, I'm excited to feature a different BIPOC writer every day here on the blog, with links to their sites and reccos of my favourites of their works.

And, as a special treat for subscribers to my newsletter, every week one lucky winner will win a copy of a book from each of the seven featured writers. Winners will be announced right here, starting this Saturday night.

Yes, you read that right. Each Saturday in February, a new winner will be chosen to receive a sampling of the week's feature authors. That's FOUR draws this month, with each winner receiving seven books!

Want to get in on the fun, but not a subscriber yet? You can sign up right now, by scrolling to the bottom of this page. It's a no-lose proposition -- I never spam, all my newsletters include special prizes for readers, and I only get my act together to send 'em out once every month or two! The February edition features a special offer to bookclub readers, this #BlackHistoryMonth celebration, and a little love from Silas, my much-brighter-than-his-canine-brother good boy. Why not join in the fun?

Okay, <rubs hands together>.

Let's get to the good part.

The excitement begins right here and now, and features one of my own personal inspirations, the marvelous Beverly Jenkins.

I first met Beverly a few years ago when she was a featured presenter in Surrey, and later had the absolute pleasure to hear her killer keynote at the Romance Writers of America conference. In person or on paper, Miz Bev is a brilliant communicator. She's the author of more than forty novels, active on twitter, and just an all-round fantastic human. Her huge back-list can be found at her website here, and you can order the brand spanking new 25th Anniversary issue of her classic novel VIVID here.

Want to win a copy of one of Beverly Jenkins' books, along with six others? Just hit that subscribe button, and your name will go into all four draws this month. Don't forget to check back here every day in February to find your next favourite read... and good luck!
