Featured Writer Alisha Rai

In celebration of #BlackHistoryMonth, I'm featuring a BIPOC writer for every day of February. And as a special treat for subscribers to my newsletter, every week one lucky reader will win a copy of a book from each of that week's seven featured writers. Winners will be announced right here on the blog every Sunday in February. Not a subscriber yet? Scroll to the bottom of this page, and sign up!

I met today's featured writer in 2018 at the Surrey International Writers' Conference, the same day I met yesterday's feature, Alyssa Cole. [And if that doesn't say that #SiWC is THE place to be, I don't know what else to tell you!] I chatted with Alisha in the quiet presenters' lounge, and spent most of the time laughing. Turns out Alisha Rai in person is just as funny and fabulous as are the characters in her books.

Looks like Oprah thinks so too, and you can read a truly heartfelt piece from Alisha HERE. As does HuffPo, where Alisha unpacks her experience with the bleak side of internet notoriety HERE.

In any case, it's clear Alisha is a writer you want to read. Her latest book, aptly titled GIRL GONE VIRAL, is the second in her 'Modern Love' series, and is available now. [Book three, titled FIRST COMES LIKE, is due out literally next week -- and you can pre-order now!]

One of my lucky newsletter subscribers will win a copy of Alisha's new book, along with books from Alyssa Cole, Chantal Gibson and four yet-to-be-featured writers this weekend. And remember to watch your email -- this week's winner STILL hasn't been in touch, and if I haven't heard back by Friday, I'll draw the name of another winner for the Week One prize package. [Calling Yesi Muñoz!]

Make sure you're signed up for my newsletter at kcdyer.com and watch for new feature writers every day in February!
