Featured writer: Renée Sarojini Saklikar

In celebration of #BlackHistoryMonth, I'm featuring a BIPOC writer for every day of February. And as a special treat for subscribers to my newsletter, each week one lucky reader will win a copy of a book from all seven featured writers. Since today is Sunday, the winner of this week's draw can be found below! Not a subscriber yet? Scroll to the bottom of this page, and sign up!

Renée Saklikar is an award-winning poet and writer, and an entirely lovely human. The inaugural Poet Laureate of Surrey, BC, Renée was born in India, but grew up here in Canada, and practiced as a lawyer before the music of all things literary out-played the call of the Bar. Her books, including her ground-breaking poetry book about the bombing of Air India Flight 182, children of air india, have been nominated for -- and won-- many prizes.

Renée's latest book, LISTENING TO THE BEES, is co-authored with Dr. Mark Winston, and is part of this week's incredible prize package.

Speaking of prizes -- it's time for the third draw of the month! The winner of this week's package, which, along with Renée's book, includes books by Sonali Dev, Waubgeshig Rice, CL Polk, Debbie Ridpath Ohi, Nalo Hopkinson, and Mahtab Narsimhan is...

Diane Reid Stevens.

Congratulations, Diane. Check your email so we can get your amazing prize package off to you right away!
